The statistics are shocking.

The Sudanese government is responsible for the deaths of over 2.5 million people and the displacement of over 5 million people since the 1980s.
A peace deal was signed and South Sudan is now its own country.
However there are still conflicts in Darfur, Blue Nile, Nuba Mountains, Abyei and the Nubian areas of the North. The two nations are still in dispute over resources and other unresolved issues relating to the division of the country.
In March 2012, George Clooney and my colleague, John Prendergast traveled to South Sudan to some of these areas to report on this alarming situation.  They witnessed war crimes by the Government of Sudan that have been committed on a daily basis against innocent civilians since June 2011.
WE cannot let history repeat itself.  This is a call to every human being who cares enough to take action.  We must put a spotlight on Sudan.

  • It is possible to save lives.
  • It is possible for Sudanese to experience freedom, justice and equality.
  • It is possible for Sudanese and South Sudanese to live in peace and to enjoy prosperity.

On the birthday of South Sudan, we will celebrate with those who have claimed freedom, we will remember those who suffered and died to set us free, and we will continue the struggle that leads to freedom for all Sudanese.

We want peace.

CALL TO ACTION:  On July 9, 2012 from 12pm – 2pm (your time zone), we are organizing world-wide peace rallies at Sudanese Embassies  or at other key locations to put a spotlight on SUDAN and to stop Bashir from destroying more innocent lives.
